A unique limited edition containing bits of spacecraft

The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro are the must-have devices at the moment. The iPhone 11 series launches this Friday, 27 September in South Africa.

If you are filling extravagant, however, the iPhone 11 Pro Discovery might just be the thing for you. Russian brand Caviar just introduced a series of luxury phones, based on the iPhone 11 series.

The Discovery series consists of only two models – the iPhone 11 Pro Titanic which contains pieces of the transatlantic liner that struck an iceberg on 15 April 1912, and the iPhone 11 Pro Vostok-1.

The latter contains fragments of the Vostok-1, the first spacecraft to make a manned flight into space – piloted by Yuri Gagarin in 1961. Just imagine, you could own a phone that contains a piece of spacecraft which had really been in space.

According to Cavier, the iPhone 11 Pro Titanic model was inspired by the fleetingness of time. The Titanic is currently at the bottom of the North Atlantic, where it has been for the last 117 years.

However, the Titanic is slowly being eaten away by the sea, bit by bit. Large parts of the transatlantic liner has already been swept away by the currents, not to mention the erosive effects of the saltwater.

The thought that the Titanic will disappear completely, motivated the Caviar team to preserve a tiny fraction of it. Apart from the fragment, an anchor is also incorporated into the design, along with relief work meant to depict a stormy ocean.

The unique iPhone 11 Pro Vostok-1 comes complete with a real fragment of the spaceship Vostok 1. The phone has a black titanium back cover, with a depiction of the solar system incorporated in the design.

An inscription on the body of the phone informs the lucky owner that yes, the Vostok-1 really went to space. A spokesperson for Caviar explained that it was extremely difficult to obtain a fragment of the spacecraft:

"The new collection is dedicated to the search for legendary treasures not only in all corners of the world, but also in space and on the ocean bed. The life principle of Caviar is a restless non-stop search for the best, the striving for perfection, even if it means exceeded the limits of what is possible. "
