Cape Town – Bellville's automobile investigation department recovered five stolen vehicles in Cape Town and arrested a 49-year-old man, Western police said on Sunday.
Police, along with vehicle monitoring companies, their partners in the fight against kidnappings and vehicle thefts, conducted an intelligence operation on Friday, said Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexan.
The police went to the address in Kleinvlei in Eesterivier. Upon arrival, the police found various vehicles. The preliminary investigation led to the confiscation of five vehicles – the theft of Alfa Romeo in Landsdowne was reported; VW Polo GTI; Hyundai Tucson kidnapped in Belhar this month; black VW Touran probably illegally imported into the country; and the Toyota Quantum minibus, which was stolen in Gansbaai.
Other items were also confiscated, including laptops, cell phones and vehicle keys. A 49-year-old man was arrested and will appear on Monday at the Blue Downs Court Court on charges of having stolen property, Rwexana said.
