WhatsApp deletes chats that are not stored in Drive from Monday

With this agreement, users can save a copy of their data using the Google Drive tool, without space restrictions and with the option of later transferring between different Android devices.

This will make it easier to store chats and transfer them, for example, to a new smartphone when the user changes the mobile phone.

All messages, as well as media files that do not make a proper backup in Drive, will be permanently deleted by the company, although each device can also save, if configured, a local copy in the file format.

Android users can update their copy, provided they have a personal Google account, in the settings menu, click the backup section and also indicate the frequency with which you want to save it in Drive.

For iPhone users, the company already has an agreement with Apple that allows its customers to store their chat content via iCloud.

WhatsApp is the most popular application in the world with almost 1500 million users.
