The main prize of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival was won by the satire of the social class Bong Joon-hos "Parasite". Emily Beecham was chosen the best actress for her role in "Little Joe" by Jessica Hausner.
During the main awards ceremony of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival, two very different worlds of cinema met on Saturday evening. The Golden Palm was presented by the French Grande Dame Catherine Deneuve. He was received by the South Korean Bong Joon-ho. This is one of the most exciting (and successful international) directors of his homeland since the early nineties, he even turned to English-speaking celebrities such as Tilda Swinton and Jake Gyllenhaal. Now he has received the most important European Film Award for his humorous social satire, "Parasite" ("Gisaengchung" in the original).
