The operation will run from 4 p.m. to midnight and has a triple purpose.
rePolice checks will be organized on Saturday evening and evening throughout the province of Luxembourg in the margins of a large-scale integrated police operation. The goal is threefold: ensuring police visibility, ensuring compliance with anti-coronavirus measures and curfew, and working on classic crime phenomena.
About 100 police officers are deployed across the province from 4 p.m. to midnight. Specifically, this integrated police operation mobilizes personnel from federal police, traffic police, local police zones, dog handlers, scythe specialists, as well as several aerial assist helicopters.
“The goal is threefold,” explains Christophe Brück, commissioner for the federal police department. “Be visible in the province of Luxembourg, be it on highways, secondary networks and city centers, for prevention and deterrence. Ensure compliance with sanitary measures and the curfew. And finally, work on classic phenomena such as theft, drugs and road safety. “
The operation relies heavily on mobile teams, with the exception of a fixed device installed along the N4 in Marche-en-Famenne in the early evening. “The goal is to cover as much territory as possible and increase user checking. This is a large-scale operation to show that we are present simultaneously throughout the territory. “
The results of the operation should be known by noon on Sunday.
