Square Enix wants the new Luminous studio to focus exclusively on triple-A

Square Enix again focused Luminous Productions just eight months after the opening of the newly created gaming studio.

With headquarters in Tokyo, Luminous flung opened its doors in March, initially intending to create new titles and triple A properties along with other innovative games and entertainment content.

However, after reviewing the studio's business strategy, Square decided that its development efforts would be better focused solely on "high-quality, three-dimensional high-quality games", which suggests that there is no room for more innovative experiences.

This is a change of direction that had a direct financial impact, and Square booked an extraordinary loss of 3.7 billion yen (32.7 million). Those interested can get acquainted with the company's latest financial report here.
