The Macedonian government has submitted to Parliament a draft amendment to the Constitution, which earlier adopted the cabinet of the country on Friday. Overall, Zoran Zaev's government has submitted four amendments to Parliament.

Talat Tzaferi's House Chair convened the plenary session of the House on 1 December to vote on the draft amendment. The approval of the draft amendment to the Constitution requires a simple majority in Parliament, which the government of Zoran Zayev is comfortable with.

Previously, the four amendments to the Constitution were examined by the parliamentary committee of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, whose first meeting was scheduled for 7 November. According to Parliament's Rules of Procedure, the debate on each amendment to the Commission lasts for a maximum of three days.

"These amendments shall form an integral part of the constitution of the Republic of Macedonia and the significance of the Interim Agreement of 1995 shall enter into force on the date of the entry into force of the definitive agreement on resolutions 817 (1993) and 845 (1993). the ratification by the Hellenic Republic of the NATO Membership Protocol.

XXXIII. AMENDMENT

In the Constitution, the words "Republic of Macedonia" are replaced by "Republic of Northern Macedonia" and the word "Macedonia" is replaced by "Northern Macedonia", with the exception of Article 36.

XXXIV. AMENDMENT

In the preamble to the Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia, the words "decisions of ASNOM" are replaced by the words "ASNOM's first ASNOM meeting for the people of Macedonia for the ASNOM meeting" after "year" and "Ohrid Framework" and "Decided" are deleted.

XXXV. AMENDMENTS

Article 3 of the Constitution states that the territory of the Republic of Macedonia is indivisible and inalienable. The present borders of the Republic of Macedonia are inviolable. Macedonia has no territorial intentions in neighboring countries. The borders of the Republic of Macedonia can only be altered in accordance with the Constitution and the principle of voluntary participation and in accordance with generally accepted international rules.

This article was amended by Amendment I in 1992 when the principle of voluntary border crossing and compliance with generally accepted international standards were incorporated. This amendment further states that the Republic of Macedonia has no territorial intentions towards neighboring countries.

The proposed new constitutional amendment calls for respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and the political independence of neighboring countries.

XXXVI AMENDMENT

The Republic defends, guarantees and cares for the historical and cultural heritage of the Macedonian people.
Democracy protects the rights and interests of citizens who live or reside abroad and promote their relations with their homeland.
The Republic provides for members of Macedonian foreign nationals living abroad.
Democracy does not interfere with the sovereign rights and internal affairs of other states.
This amendment replaces Article 49 of the Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia.
