On Saturday morning, two suspected fighters exchanged fire with security forces on the Batote-Doda highway in the Ramban district.

Two suspicious men tried to stop a civilian vehicle on NH244 in Batote. However, the driver was alert and did not stop the vehicle.

"Around 7:30, two suspects attempted to stop a civilian vehicle in Batote, NH 244. The driver of the vehicle was alert, did not stop the vehicle, rushed and informed the nearest military post. The quick reaction team reacted quickly and contact was established with suspicious people. "- said defense spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand.

An exchange of fire is underway between suspected fighters and officials.

"There was a fire exchange. The operation is still enabled. Suspected ultras are hiding in nullah, but they have been cordoned. Extra meals were thrown in place – Anand added.
