The club's management informs that from November 5, the coach of the new "Valga-Valka" will be 42-year-old Mikhail Karpenko, the current head coach of the Kazakh team in Kazakhstan, who started his coaching career in 1997.

In the previous season (2017-2018), Karpenko led the VTB Unitary League as the main coach of the basketball club "Astana", and was also successful in training Russian and Kazakh clubs.

"Valga-Valka started the season for the basketball team and it must be admitted that the former coach A. Misum failed to consolidate the team to make full use of its potential." Of course there are objective reasons, because the team was completed relatively late and the preparation time was very short. To save this season, changes are needed, "says Vents Armands Krauklis, public manager of the basketball club.

Club manager Robert Peterson claims that changing the coach can break the team and give him a new motivation to win in each game: "This is life and basketball – if you do not get the results, you have to change something."

Liepājnieks Armands Misus became the main coach of the Valga-Valka club at the end of August, and in the Latvian-Estonian united league tournament seven games with a balance of 1-6 under his leadership were carried out.

Karpenko will be able to debut on the team's steering on Friday, November 9, at noon. 19.00 in the sports hall of Valga, as a home game Valga-Valka will meet with the unit "Ventspils".
