The director of Rafic Hariri University Hospital, Dr. Firas Al-Abyad, indicated that 84 people had died due to the corona in Lebanon in the last four days, the deaths being the result of an infection that patients contracted more than two weeks ago and that occurred before the start general closure. This high number of deaths explains the intense concern that prompted public health experts to recommend a general shutdown.
5.1 There have been 84 deaths related to the Crown in Lebanon in the past four days. These deaths resulted from an infection that patients became ill with more than two weeks ago and occurred before the onset of general blockade. This high number of deaths explains the intense concern that prompted public health experts to recommend a general shutdown.
In a tweet on his Twitter account, Al-Abyadh said: “Yesterday’s report from the Ministry of Public Health contained other important data. In addition to the large number of cases (1859), the tests carried out showed that the percentage of passing exams continues to rise, exceeding 15%. In the intensive care unit, 341 patients are among the highest rates since the start of the pandemic“.
He added: “All these figures mean that the Corona Committee at today’s meeting will face a difficult choice to extend the general closure. Business sectors saw record numbers of layoffs and company closings. Extending the closing period, especially in the upcoming holiday season, without support for them Sectors will have a negative impact“.
Al-Abyadh continued: “The relaxation of the closure measures, despite the high number of registrations, particularly the high rate of passing exams and the record number of intensive care patients, could worsen the current situation in the Crown, and the high number of deaths will be another motivation for demanding severity.“.
Al-Abyadh added: “Risk reduction with economics will be the focus of today’s afternoon meeting. We all know that poverty is harmful to health, like the Crown, and that the majority of society is in an unenviable financial position. Well-balanced decisions are always the best. We should not give up hope. Winter is harsh, but spring must come.
5.4 From the point of view of public health experts, the relaxation of the blocking measures despite the high number of registered people, in particular the high positive test rate and record number of intensive care patients, could lead to a worsening of the current situation in Corona kroner and the high number of deaths will be another motivation to demand austerity.
