BARU CAT: Premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has criticized government officials who do not accept democratic principles, thus refusing to accept the leadership of the new government.
Dr. Mahathir said that such an attitude was certainly wrong, because it could induce the nation to step back for refusing to accept these principles.
"We understand, because there were 13 parliamentary elections and each time the government at the federal level has not changed, and this time when there will be a change, there will certainly be people who find it hard to accept new leadership.
"This is because the previous government has developed an attitude for them, including work for a particular party and leader, and not for the development of the country, not instilling a high democratic principle," he said during a speech "Today with the Prime Minister and heads of state / federal departments and agencies.
He said that when this attitude was implanted in people for so long, government officials were no longer working for the government, but for the ruling party.
He said that when they were tied in such a way, state officials gave greater party loyalty, and when the new government was established, problems arose because some officials were still tied to the old party.
The prime minister said that government officials should be guided by a neutral policy and adopt democratic policies to achieve more effective national development.
"There are officers who are connected and do not want to recognize the new government, and this is not good for the future of the country, although the government understands it," he said.
In this regard, Dr Mahathir advised civil servants to be more professional in the interests of national development, and not for specific groups.
In the Kelantan case, Dr Mahathir said that policy differences do not mean that states can not be developed together with the central government, but should instead be complemented for this purpose.
"Do not be too obsessive to the party and do not be the reason why you can not contribute to development, I am not appealing for support, but I am talking about the truth, otherwise there will be problems" – he added. – Bernama
