Best series, football | The NRK expert was shocked by what he read. Now he’s excited before the Toppserien decision is made:

Three teams compete for gold in Toppserien before all is decided on Sunday.

In late October, Carl-Erik Torp, NRK’s soccer expert, was encouraged to comment on women’s soccer. An Instagram observer made very insulting comments about women’s football, the day after Norway secured a spot in the European Championship after their away victory against Wales.

Torp himself chose to comment on the message he received on Twitter where he wrote the following.

– I approve of different interests and opinions, but I also want to be one of those who speak up when someone expresses it, belittling others. We still have a long way to go. I am very proud to be allowed to pass women’s soccer in Norway, wrote the former Brann player.

Dagbladet has mentioned this case before.

Intense fight for gold

Torp explains that the delivery provoked him a lot.

– The views on football that go to the level are a natural part of the discussion and I have no problem with that, but my main focus is that we have to put aside that we have to talk about other things in advance to make it clear that something another is better. It has to go. I’m damn annoyed and tired of those having to do something else to give their opinion on something, he says to Nettavisen before continuing:

– I get opinions that I don’t have. I think it’s pointless and damn. We cannot cover the Top Series because, for example, we will be talking about the Elite Series. It’s the same in men’s soccer. Why, for example, should you talk about the Premier League at the expense of the Elite Series here at home? We have to build a product. If we focus only on the negatives, it will be a sour streak. I can’t be a part of it, she explains.

On Sunday it finally becomes clear that sport must be in the spotlight. Toppserien’s final round after Arna-Bjørnar’s corona infection delays in the league is just a few hours away. You can follow the drama live at Direktesport. Torp will be following the golden drama closely and is engaged and excited before all is settled.

– It’s so close. Before the penultimate round I thought Roseborg would not have the opportunity to take it away from Vålerenga, but since Vålerenga cheated himself and was just as weak as against Lyn, things changed. They were terribly unsteady.

In a previous Brann profile, it’s clear that the show’s sprint will be offering crazy drama.

– It has become as exciting as possible. Avaldsnes will enter a difficult match in Bergen. RBK goes to Klepp and although they were bad, it’s not easy – he says.

– We have to hope the others will go bang

After an involuntary long break before the last round of the Avaldsnes series, Olaug Tvedten is ready to make his decision. The midfielder greatly contributed to the team being able to win the league gold on Sunday. Up to Vålerenga and Rosenborg, the difference is only one point.

She herself had a very good season in 2020.

– It’s a damn cool position that everyone wants to be in. Ideally, everything should only be on us, but on the other hand, the pressure comes off our shoulders. We must hope others will rush us to take the gold, says Tvedten to Nettavisen.

– Do you believe it will happen then?

– It will take a while, but the others are playing with difficult teams. This can happen and it can do something about the mentality that they know they have everything to lose says about the two teams ahead of them on the table.

Tvedten explains that, for her part, she hoped the team would be able to compete for the top places ahead of the season.

Although many gave us more tips, I believed in a good season because I know we are a good team. We’ve shown that we deserve to be there, he says.

In the run of the national team

Tvedten also delivered the goods personally this year. She did so well that at the end of October she was awarded a place in the Norwegian national team.

– It was incredibly cool. Some of the coolest things that have happened to me. This was the goal that topped the list. I had to play and train with many people who were a role model for me. I hope to experience it again – he says optimistically.

With a place in the European Championship and more and more young Norwegian players moving up and ahead, the national team has good times ahead.

– Two more years. They (management, ed.) Are probably looking a little further into the future. Hope I impressed the collection which made them focus on me. There are many young people coming and going, there is likely to be a slight generational change, although there are already many good people who are still committed.

Tvedten also points out that she appreciates that TV profiles like Torp have the strength to take the fight against the dark attitudes towards women’s soccer.

– I have great respect for that. It’s very nice. We really appreciate it. We want others to think it’s a good product. We know how much work we put in to be as good as we can – he sums up.
