The new Tottenham Hotspur stadium will open on April 3 against Crystal Palace, allowing for safety tests and certificates.
The new Spurs stadium will host the first test event on March 24 – the U-18 against Southampton with a capacity of around 30,000, starting at 15:00.
Then, six days later, on March 30, about 45,000 people will be able to enter the new stadium of Tottenham with 62,062 people for the Legends match, starting at 17:30.
The purpose of the two test events is to obtain the required safety certificates so that the stadium can fully open. UEFA also wanted Tottenham to play at least one Premier League match before he could play in the quarter finals of the Champions League with Manchester City.
This meant discussions with Brighton and Crystal Palace to make sure that if security certificates were obtained, one of the two parties would be the first Premier League site to open the stadium.
Chris Hughton's men won the quarter-final FA Cup in Millwall, which means that Tottenham will play in Crystal Palace on Wednesday April 3 in the Wednesday match at the stadium, then in Brighton at home later in April 23/24.
The Spurs statement read: "After Brighton's victory against Millwall in the FA Cup quarter final this afternoon, we can confirm that the first Premier League match at our new stadium will be against the Crystal Palace on Wednesday 3 April (start time) TBC).
"On Tuesday, April 9, the first UEFA Champions League quarter-final match will be held with Manchester City, starting at 8:00.
"We will now play in Brighton in the Premier League at the new stadium on Tuesday 23 or Wednesday 24 April."
Tomorrow we will announce further details regarding tickets and events.
