PVL: Flying Titans extend win streak to three

ChocoMucho clawed its way back from a 1-2 match deficit before completing a come-from-behind revenge win over PacificTown Army, 25-20, 17-25, 21-25, 25-11, 15-8, on Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Kat Tolentino fired 24 with 22 coming off attacks including the game-clinching hit to lift the Flying Titans to its third straight win and a sweet payback over their first round tormentors.

Bringing in the momentum of its fourth set rout that forced a deciding frame, ChocoMucho raced to an early 6-2 advantage and even extended the gap to 11-5 after a Ging Balse-Pabayo attack error.

Shannen Palec pushed the Flying Titans at match point, 14-6, before the Lady Troopers made a desperate late push to save two points. Tolentino finished off PacificTown Army, which beat ChocoMucho in five sets in their first meeting, with a hit.

"I gave that to my players because they're really working hard," said ChocoMucho coach Oliver Almadro. "It's really hard to cope up with the system with one month, two months. And we've been practicing hard. "

“Luckily, nakakasunod na, may mga times pa rin na, of course, bumabalik pa rin sa mga default fundamentals. But what I admire my players is they really work hard. They really try to make it up sa mga kakulangan nila, ”he added.

Maddie Madayag added 14 points while Shang Berte finished with seven for ChocoMucho, which took advantage of the Lady Troopers' atrocious 42 errors.

PacificTown Army saw its two-game winning streak snapped in the return of head coach Kungfu Reyes and opposite hitter Joevelyn Gonzaga after a tour of duty with the national team in the inaugural ASEAN Grand Prix in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand recently.

Honey Royse Tubino had 16 points with 14 coming off attacks and added 11 excellent receptions while Gonzaga registered 15 markers and 17 digs for the Lady Troopers. Jem Gutierrez got 11 points while Balse-Pabayo and Luth Malaluan combined for 16 markers for PacificTown Army.
