Singapore student in critical condition after a "hit and run" accident in New York, USA News & Top Stories


A twenty-year-old Singaporean student studying in the United States is in critical condition after the accident "hit and run away" took place in Buffalo, New York on Thursday (November 1).

Ms Renuka Ramanadhan is a student of undergraduate studies at the University of Buffalo (UB). The University has confirmed its identity in The Straits Times.

The UB edition says that the disaster took place just before 22.00 (New York time) on Thursday at Hadley Road in front of Hadley Village Apartments on the university's northern campus.

Ms. Renuka was taken to the Erie County Medical Center, and the local police are investigating the disaster.

The university said that it is in close contact with family and friends, and provides help, including the issue of organizing a stay in Buffalo.

"The whole UB community hopes to manage it completely," said the university.

The release adds that the driver's vehicle "run and run away" is a model of a forty-door Honda Accord with a dark color from 2003-2008, which can damage the front right hood, bumper, fender and reflector.

He appealed to anyone who has information to contact the local police.
