SHMI warns of floods in the Michalovce district

In the Michalovce district, they declared the second degree of the hydrological challenge.

Meteorologists from the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) warn of possible floods from permanent rain that may occur in the east of Slovakia in the Michalovce district. In this area, the second stage of the hydrological challenge was announced.

"Given the drop in rainfall and a significant increase in the water level in the Ukrainian part of the basin, it is expected that the water level in Latorica will increase, with the possibility of reaching or exceeding the level of water corresponding to the level of flood activity" – said the meteorologist.

The warning is valid until 10.00 am on Monday 27 May.
