The image of a doctor in a Covid-19 protective suit hugging an elderly patient on Thanksgiving has spread widely on the Internet and has become a symbol of the despair of epidemic victims and the humanity of the treatment team.
The photo was taken on Thanksgiving Thursday, when American families gather at United Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas by a photographer from Getty Images.
“I was in the Covid ward and saw this elderly patient standing in front of the bed, trying to leave, he was crying,” said Dr. Joseph Faron, the hospital’s intensive care ward.
The doctor added, “I went up to him and asked why he was crying and he replied,” I want to be with my wife. ” Then I hugged him. He cried a little, but his condition improved and he stopped crying.
Varun noted that he was not aware of the photographer recording the scene, noting that he “felt sorry” for the patient and was “very sad as he was.”
The doctor explained that working in the hospital ward of “Covid-19” is “difficult”, especially for older patients who feel lonely, referring to some patients trying to escape because they “felt isolated and wanted to leave.”
Varun indicated that the patient’s health had improved significantly and that he could now be discharged from the hospital before the end of the week.
