Technology leaders paint the future – in the Emirates – news and reports



The 40th “GITEX Technology Week” will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from 6 to 10 December, bringing together world leaders in technology, great innovators and global investors from the technology sector.

After a year of lost business opportunities, global tech makers meet again at GITEX, the only major tech event to be held in 2020, to provide the world with the only opportunity for personal interaction through this year’s important technology forum.

With the participation of over 1,200 exhibiting companies, including over 300 startups from over 60 countries around the world, this year’s “GITEX Technology Week” presents a unique model of diversification of the global technology sector.

GITEX hosts pavilions for some of the leading technology nations from around the world, as well as conferences with over 350 speakers who will come to Dubai from 30 different countries. Dubai will host the world’s leading technology experts and give them the opportunity to share their visions for the future.

Exhibitor safety

The Dubai World Trade Center prioritises the health and safety of all exhibitors, participants and visitors to GITEX Technology Week as the event will be held under strict precautionary and preventive measures set by the Government of Dubai and recommended by relevant authorities including the Dubai Health Authority and the Dubai Authority Dubai city.

Dr. Yunus Al-Nasser, deputy general manager of Dubai Smart City Office, said: “GITEX Technology Week is approaching the start of this year, in light of the unique circumstances that the world is experiencing with the outbreak (Covid 19). Regardless of the limitations this test places on us, technology-assisted testing has given us the ability to continue our business and life.

Therefore, we believe that the role and definition of technology has developed significantly. At this year’s GITEX, we are delighted to share Dubai’s experience with the world in using technology to combat the epidemic and redesigning the city’s experience around it.

We have worked at Smart Dubai with our government and private sector partners to pioneer a smart city in the world, following the crisis (Covid 19), based on the pillars of achieving the happiness of its citizens and residents.

Al-Nasser added: “In line with the vision of the future and guided by our wise leadership, Dubai in particular and the UAE in general have come a long way in adopting and using advanced technologies and strengthening the emirate’s position as a global technology hub and a model smart city for the future “.

Offers and innovations

The activities of “GITEX” constitute an umbrella presenting pioneering technological innovations in the region and include the creation of “GITEX for the Future Stars”, the largest event for emerging technology projects in the region, the “Gulf Information Security Exhibition and Conference” and the “Future Blockchain Summit”, a leading transformation platform technology. In addition to launching the first edition of MarketingMania, a new platform for employees in the field of brand marketing.

In this year’s session, tech giants will take part in “GITEX” to present the latest technological innovations closely and strategically related to artificial intelligence technologies, fifth generation technology (5G), future mobility, security, blockchain technology and more.

Attendees this year include Microsoft, Dell Technologies, Du, Etisalat, Lenovo, Honeywell, IBM, Red Hat, Avaya and Huawei. GITEX hosts over 200 of the most influential international investors, including “Iban” (Belgium), “Modus Capital” from the United States and “Start-Up 500” from Egypt.
