Dr Tidros Adhanom Ghebresos, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), praised the role of the UAE in supporting UN and WHO projects and programs in ensuring health for all.
This happened after receiving an invitation to participate in the global forum "Achieving the last mile: accelerating the pace", which will be held on November 19 in Abu Dhabi during a meeting with HE Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, permanent representative of the UAE at the United Nations in Geneva.
The forum will host the world's most influential health leaders in their search for the most effective ways to combat infectious diseases that threaten the lives and lives of the most vulnerable people in the world, as well as shed light on the development of delivery systems and new research, and will present new diagnoses, drugs and vaccines, that saved millions of lives.
The forum will serve as a platform for donors to emphasize their continued commitment to polio control.
The Director-General reviewed international efforts to stop the spread of the Ebola virus in Africa, especially in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and ensure a coordinated international response.
For his part, Ambassador Al Zaabi underlined in this context the firm policy of the state in supporting humanitarian and health work at all international and regional levels in order to save millions of people worldwide without discrimination.
