Astronomers have discovered a new supermassive black hole, reminiscent of a huge fountain. Located in the center of the galaxy Abell 2597, one billion light years separate the hole from Earth.
According to Science Alert, the hole forms a closed loop from which cold molecular gas is ejected and falls. Therefore, the researchers compared it with the fountain.
"Perhaps this is the first system where we have found clear evidence of both the influx of cold molecular gas towards the black hole and the outflow or outflow from jets activated by the black hole," said Grant Tremblay of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (USA). .
It has also been reported that the hole does not itself produce gas – it is attracted by the force of gravity.
As OBOZREVATEL has written, scientists at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics have discovered that living organisms are able to settle in the Milky Way using various space objects, including meteorites, asteroids and comets.
